“Parents are like God because you wanna know they’re out there, and you want them to think well of you, but you really only call when you need something.”

It was a hard day, I returned home from work the same time my parents returned home from a wedding. I was exhausted sitting in front of the computer the whole day long, finalizing a report whereas my parents were exhausted with 2 day back to back functions followed by wedding and reception as it normally happens in any Indian Wedding. As soon as we entered house, my mom asked me if I had food and I said, I did not get time and went in the room to change. When I came out, I saw my father crashing to bed while my mom entered kitchen and started cooking for me, for she did not want me to sleep hungry. I asked her to go and sleep and that I will have chips, but she would not sleep before I ate a proper meal. Not that she waited till I finished my dinner, she even washed utensils, put all the clothes in a bucket, arranged clothes and saw if ironed clothes are there for tomorrow, did her usual chore for food that is to be prepared tomorrow and then went to sleep.

Such are moms, SuperMoms as my title reads, full of strength and full of love. Even if they would have had more work, had toiled more, would see to it that every member of family is adhered to and taken care of, and then will give herself rest. That night, I felt really bad but all I could do from next time after work to help her is, help in washing utensils at night, and I give up. There are days when I feel routine has consumed me, I feel gloomy and think there is no purpose to life, I yearn for innovation and then I see mom, doing same thing since years and yet not bored, always happy and cheerful, always active and even if she has fever, she would move about the way as if nothing has happened.

Yesterday evening when I checked my mail, I found a mail from Blogadda to write on “Tribute to Mom” as a part of Mother’s Day celebration. The starting lines read “We cannot have enough of Mother’s love! 24 hours are never enough to make our mothers feel special and express our gratitude.”, and these lines are so true. I took a night to think on what can I exactly write for her? About those days when Dad was hospitalized, she would stay in hospital and take care of her, go to office and see if the work gets done, see to it that I get proper food as my exams were on and pack lunch box for my sister, yet do it with such perfection and in the best of way as though nothing has really happened or about those days when I was in my primary school and was scared of lizards entering home, so she would stay awake with me at night so that I can study (Yes, I had a habit of night studies since 3rd grade or so) without fear. About those time when she would sacrifice her sweet or her favourite dish for her kids loved it a lot, to those days when financial situation was bleak and she will handle the house in the best possible way at the least amount of money. If I have to record what she does, from a Super Housemaker, to a BusinessWoman in need, to a learnt teacher, to a charismatic representative of the house; Moms are unbeatable.

Dictionary may fall short of the words to describe your greatness, as one of Sooraj Barjatiya movie had these lines, “Dharti pe roop ma-baap ka us vidhata ki pehchaan hai”, to those lines in a song from the movie Biwi No. 1, “O Sai Ram, Tujhse pehle lunga apne mummy daddy ka naam” and the epic, “Mere paas bangla hai, gaadi hai … etc etc etc …, Tumhare paas kya hai?; “Mere paas maa hai” dialogue, Moms have always been something, a normal synonym for greatness can’t describe.
